More than 30 million people visit Austin every year for the culture, food, and great atmosphere of the city – Austin is known as the “live music capital of the world.”
Fitness and wellbeing have also taken Austin by storm, and you can easily spend a few days visiting the day spas and enjoying one of the dozens of beautiful green parks and spaces.

Then after your relaxing day, it’s time for some great food!
Texas isn’t all about beef: there are some great vegan and vegetarian cafes and restaurants in the city.
So head to The Counter Culture or Vegan Nom for a dinner made with nutritious, delicious, and fresh ingredients.
Green Spaces
Zilker Park, which covers 28 acres, is a beautiful green space and home to the incredible Austin City Limits Music Festival.
One of the best things to do at the park is to take a walk through the colorful botanical gardens.
There are koi ponds, a Japanese garden, and even an unusual prehistoric garden to admire.
Mueller Lake Park is also popular with city-dwellers who want to spend some time in nature.
You can walk around the trails, or simply sit by the 6.5-acre lake and spend some time watching the world go by.
If you enjoy watersports like kayaking, then head to Covert Park, where you will get some beautiful views of the meandering Colorado River.
The best time to visit is just before sunset when the shadows are long and the light reflects off the water.
Live Music
You can’t spend time in Austin without seeing some live music.
Austin Music Hall was once a warehouse, but since being converted, it has played host to some great new bands, including 1975.
For a more intimate gig, head to the Sixth Street district to Parish, which has previously been voted one of the best live music venues in Texas.
Previous acts to play on stage there include Slash and the legend that is Pete Townsend. If you like jazz, then it’s worth paying a visit to The Elephant Room.
The entrance fee for a show (often around $5) certainly isn’t a reflection of the quality of the nightly music that you can hear in this atmospheric venue.
Culture, music, BBQ, and green spaces – Austin, Texas has it all. It is the perfect place for a mini-break or even a full vacation with your family and friends.
