Lund Cathedral
The cathedral in Lund is very impressive.
Almost all of 27 cathedrals and churches built in the XII – XIII centuries in Lund were destroyed during the reformation.
The Lund cathedral is still there with a small cemetery nearby which adds authenticity to the gothic structure.
It is definitely worth a visit.
Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden located in the center of Lund dates back to the 19th century.
Today, in its vast territory of 8 hectares, more than 7,000 different plant species grow.
Approximately 2,000 species that belong to nine different climatic zones can only be seen in the greenhouses.
Initially, the park belonged to the Lund Hospital, but in 1815 this land was given to the university.
In addition to the few buildings of the university, there’s the Botanical Museum that you can visit.
Cultural Museum
This carefully planned museum has interesting artifacts for both the old and the young.
You will get a real sense of the Swedish culture in the past.
One visit is said to be not enough for visiting Lund museum, and every time you are there you will discover something new.
The expositions located outdoors are especially fascinating.
These are the reproductions of the Swedish village and the Swedish city.
You can enter the houses and see the expositions inside.
City Park
Stadsparken is a favorite place of many.
There is a large playground for children, plenty of space for walking and grilling, several gardens.
Most of the festivals and major events take place here in the park.
Early birds come here for a run and watch birds at Laguna.
Stadsparken is a place to meet with friends and family.
It is just a few minutes walk from the center of Lund.
Lund University
Lund University takes second place in the national ranking of Sweden.
It is one of the oldest and honorable universities in Sweden with the most qualified teachers.
You can obtain knowledge in the following areas: Art and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Natural Sciences and a few others.
Historic Grocery Shop
The shopping center Bytaregrand is organized as a courtyard furnished with shops where all the trade sections are available at once.
This is rather convenient when the shoppers are not numerous. However, there’s another must-see place named Hokeriet which is Lund’s oldest grocery store built in 1815.
It represents a traditional wooden building where lots of food and non-food goods are sold.
You can also just stop by and have a cup of coffee.
Flyinge Equestrian Center
This is a fascinating place with historic buildings in contrast with high-tech architecture.
Flyinge dates back to the 12th century 15 kilometers away from Lund.
You can find chattering storks on the roofs and noble horses in the stables.
Different activities like breeding of the Swedish Warmblood, equestrian sports, training, and veterinary medicine are offered here.
Uppokra Archaeological Center
The Iron Age settlement in Uppokra was discovered in the 1930s when parts of the skeletons were found in the earth.
The large-scale excavations found over 3,500 artifacts.
In some places, the cultural layer during the excavations was more than two meters with upper part dated by the Viking era.
