The 10 Best Flea Markets in Indiana
Friendship Downtown Flea Market
Could there be a better place to meet people with great deals than a town called Friendship?
Located just west of the Kentucky border, this flea market is situated, you guessed it, in the downtown strip of Friendship.
This is not your typical flea market, however.
It is actually more of an experience since it is only open about two weeks a year, in the spring and fall, respectively.
This is the type of place you do not come to for unique wares alone, there is a whole event calendar with live music, food, and an antique show.
With an outdoor setting, it gives out festival vibes as opposed to a market.
White’s Farm Flea Market and Auctioneers
Now we head north on highway 1 to Mound Haven.
That is where we will find White’s Farm.
When you pull up on the property, you will notice White’s is more jack of all trades as opposed to only a flea market.
There is a storage facility, a place to hold weddings, appraisers, auctions, and finally, the market.
Open since 1988, White’s Farm is ready to showcase bargains every Wednesday.
Come early and have breakfast made by Grandma Applegate or enjoy one of many other lunch items served around the space.
Doors open at sunrise and close around noon.
If you are feeling hot, there are indoor booths as well. Parking is free.
Me & My Sister’s Flea Market
Now we are heading west towards the bigger city of Shelbyville.
You will notice the building immediately with the bright pink letters on a baby blue background.
Right off highway 44 is a flea market that is open all week, starting at 10 am.
What can you expect to find here?
Anything you can imagine really, but common items tend to hover around antiques, collectibles, furniture from a vast array of time periods, candles, vintage everything, skincare products, decorations for your home, and much more.
From May through October, there are also special events on the second Saturday of each month.
That is when the indoor market goes outside for a little open-air shopping.
Shipshewana Flea Market
Okay, it is straight north from our last stop to Shipshewana, Indiana.
This area is also known as Amish Country to locals.
The antique auctions go on all year but the flea market is seasonal.
From May through September, you can come to catch the outdoor shops that have been popping up for a century.
In total, there are almost 1,000 booths spread out across a vast plot of land.
It is free and fun with items from flora to food for the fauna and a million things in between.
That is to be expected from the Midwest’s largest flea market.
Uncle John’s Flea Market
Onto the west side of the state!
Just a short drive south from Lake Michigan, and hugging the Illinois border, is Cedar Lake, home of Uncle John’s Flea Market.
This location is open on weekends, all year.
The fun thing about Uncle John’s is that the wares are spread out across a multitude of oversized barns.
It is known as the best place around to pick up top-quality produce.
Aside from fruits and vegetables, there are plenty of antiques to look through that will take up the entirety of the day.
So, if you go, be prepared to leave your whole afternoon free.
Trader Buck’s Flea Market
After a long drive south, we will end up in Danville at a massive indoor market.
There are currently seven locations for Trader Buck’s.
So, if you do not find anything that jumps out at you here, you can take a detour to a different Trader Buck’s and see what they have to offer.
Within the market are both new and used items.
You should be able to find vintage decorations as well as out-of-the-box silverware.
This is another flea market that is open every day, so you do not have to worry about squeezing in the time over the summer or weekend.
Come out when it is convenient!
Croy Creek Traders Fair
Southwest down highway 40 will bring us to Putnam County’s favorite flea market.
For 45 years, Croy Creek has grown as one of the biggest swaps meets in the state.
It costs $4 a person to get in and that opens you up to a wild assortment of goods in booths across 45 acres.
Croy Creek is only open two weekends a month.
So if you are interested, be sure to check for dates on their website.
Not only are the days limited, but so are the hours.
On Sundays, most booths are closed by 1 pm.
Olde Time Flea Market
Back east in Nashville, no not the one in Tennessee, is a market that has been opened since 1976.
Unlike the other places, Olde Time’s season is from April through October, weekends only.
Unless it is a holiday. Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day have special day status, which the market opens for.
If all this shopping makes you hungry, you can stay for dinner.
Owners Charley and Marsha host Pitch-In Dinners, hot dog roasts, and ice cream socials throughout the season.
Treasures Indoor Flea Market
We have almost gone a full circle.
Now we are on the outskirts of Indianapolis in a city called Mooresville.
Inside Treasures Indoor Flea Market is a 40,000-square-foot space for shopping in all its glory.
This market is currently best known for restored and lightly used furniture.
Furniture may be what made Treasures popular, but that is not the whole story.
There are over 300 unique vendors here set up to offer you some awesome items.
No need to rush, this market is open all week, most days from 11 am to 7 pm.
South Side Flea Market
Why not end in the center of the capital?
One of the busiest markets in the state is located, unsurprisingly, on the south side of Indianapolis and is open every day of the week.
If you are into the least amount of crowds, of course, stop by during the week as early as 10 am.
The staff made it extra convenient to shop all day by adding a cafe.
Want a little more variety?
There is a whole section of Latinx booths.
Have gamers with you?
Keep them entertained with one of the best collections in the state.
