RESTAURANTS
Like most cities in Florida, Orlando offers many restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops scattered around the city.
Here, you can have a gorgeous meal at an inexpensive restaurant for only 20$.
However, you should still keep in mind that eating out will definitely empty your wallet faster than if you cook for yourself.
MARKETS
The main stores in Orlando are the regular grocery stores you can find anywhere across the United States.
You’ll find most commodities: canned goods, dry goods, milk, butter, eggs, etc. in every grocery store around town.
But if you really want to save some money on food, your best bet is to teach yourself to be a good cook.
TRANSPORTATION
Orlando’s public transportation is the LYNX bus service.
Approximately 60 routes serve the metro Orlando area and cost $2 per ride except for the free Lymmo bus service downtown.
The public transport in Orlando, though it isn’t really cheap, is not expensive either.
While there are many cities keeping the price for a monthly pass up around 80$, in Orlando, it’s as low as 50$.
UTILITIES (MONTHLY)
Internet is usually provided by Spectrum (which costs about $70+ a month) and you will either have an energy bill or electric bill (one uses gas and one doesn’t).
Florida gets pretty hot so expect to run your AC constantly which will probably double your monthly bills.
Also, some renters include water usage while some don’t so, by all means, double-check!
SPORTS & LEISURE
A membership at the gym or a fitness club can’t go by without you cashing out around 35$, while those that love going to the movies will have to cash out 14$ per person for a cinema ticket.
There are great entertainment options for children all year open, close to the beach, lakes, and 3 hours away from mountains in Georgia.
CLOTHING & SHOES
If you’re into shopping, luckily for you, in Orlando you’ll run into mall after mall after mall.
The Florida Mall is here, and it’s actually the largest mall in Orlando.
Then there’s the Mall at Millenia, which is Orlando’s most upscale and beautiful mall.
In these malls, you’ll find everything from Tiffany’s to Hugo Boss and Gucci.
RENT PER MONTH
Orlando is growing fast, very fast, which means that it is a good place to invest in properties.
If you’re looking for a decent area that has a low to no crime rate, you are looking at $1900-$3000 a month to rent.
Most one-bedroom one-bathroom apartments start at $1650, which is really expensive.

Most of the money in Orlando gets spent on rent, since it’s really steep in most areas, and even when you look at the situation in general – it’s higher than in many other important cities

You can count on 200$ a week going on food if you have a family.

Average Costs Breakdown
Orlando, FL: Average Salary, Minimum Wage & Mortgages
Due to Florida being a top destination for everyone both to the north and to the south of it, the job market is very tough.
The problem is, most jobs in the central Florida area are hospitality related and pay at or slightly above the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
If you’re still working, all of Florida tends to have a low pay scale, which is fine if you’re living here because almost everything is cheap to buy, too.
However, it makes it harder to travel, because you are living in a Florida economy, and prices elsewhere are so much higher.
