This article has nailed it. I live in Valencia and yes, prices shoot up in summer for all the tourism. I buy food in bulk and look around for deals to avoid spending so much. Utilities are pretty expensive as stated, but you just have to budget properly. I’m happy here and have no plan to move.
Valencia sounds very attractive to me. Madrid is where I am currently and rent is so expensive! I think I can save a lot of money by moving. I’m here right now on vacation! I found this article because I want to live here so bad. Staying in the El Coso hotel at the moment right next to the beach, a lovely place. I’ve been all over the city and it’s just so nice and vibrant compared to Glasgow. I have to look into this more, I really do want to stay!
Good but keep it just for vacations
I was living in Valencia for almost 5 years and I left it for Luxembourg. Of course I have kids and from economic perspective and kids education is way better in Luxembourg. I have now 2 years in Luxembourg and I would not return back. The big minus in Valencia is the haotic traffic … in fact if you have a car there it’s painful (stretch parkings, bad drivers, scratches on the door and bumper, uff I don’t want to remember) and level of education or people behaviour in general is also debatable. Other problem that I frequently faced is the food in shops, frequently I found outdated food or broken eggs. I can say that here in Luxembourg I can finally sleep and I feel in a civilised world. Valencia would still be my favorite for a short vacation spend few summer nights in Umbracle and enjoy the sea in Cullera. The IT salaries in Spain is very low compared to rest of Europe, even in the Est you can get better salary than there. Who was there can confirm all of these.
