Low Risk Cities
These cities present a low overall safety risk for travelers. They score well in crime levels, healthcare quality, infrastructure reliability, and political stability. While no destination is completely risk-free, incidents affecting visitors in these cities are relatively uncommon.
Moderate Risk Cities
These cities carry a moderate level of risk, often due to uneven crime rates, localized safety concerns, or infrastructure limitations. Travel is generally safe in main districts and tourist areas, but visitors may need to take extra precautions depending on the neighborhood and time of year.
High Risk Cities
Cities in this tier pose a higher safety risk due to elevated crime, political instability, limited healthcare access, or ongoing security concerns. Travel to these cities often requires careful planning and may not be advisable for all visitors.
Extreme Risk Cities
This group includes cities where safety risks are significant and unpredictable. Factors may include armed conflict, widespread crime, civil unrest, or severely limited emergency services. Non-essential travel to these cities is often not advised.

How the Safety Index Scores Are Calculated
We analyzed data from public sources such as police reports and international polls and ran a unique formula to calculate the risk based on the number of incidents including: mugging, drugs, violent crimes, bribery, property crimes, stolen vehicles, region, and race tolerance, and more.
Our index ranks cities from 0-100, 0-33 being the most dangerous, 33-66 somewhat safe/dangerous, and 66-100 the safest.
Risk classifications reflect general conditions and may vary by region or time of year.
